Doctors in Training
We have a number of Foundation Year Doctors (F2s) doctors who come for 4 months rotations as part of their training at Bournemouth Hospital. We also have GP trainees who come for 6-12 months as part of their final GP training. From time to time we will also have medical students from Southampton University. All are closely supervised by our GPs.
Assistant Practitoner
Sal is our Assistant Practitioner for patients with long term conditions. Her working days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Assistant Practitioners are qualified to see patients with Long Term conditions and to make detailed assessment of their health care needs, based on their combined medical and nursing knowledge, including clinical skills that you may not have traditionally associated with nurses, such as history taking and physical examination. They can also directly refer patients to clinical specialists, such as hospital consultants.
Nurses
Practice nurses are fully trained in a wide range of skills including immunisations, health promotion, contraception and management of long-term conditions e.g. advise on diet and lifestyle choices, coronary heart disease, hypertension, asthma, diabetes, smoking cessation and obesity. Practice nurses can extend their skills at diploma level and see many patients who previously would have seen the doctor.

Medical Receptionists
Reception staff attend to patients on the phone and in person. They coordinate and organise appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the Practice, and support delivery of quality patient care. The reception staff have a very demanding role. They are there to assist you and we would ask you to be patient during peak times, when the staff have to handle a large volume of calls and enquiries. They will ask you a small amount of personal information about your medical condition – this information is used to ensure your call is dealt with by the correct clinician and assist fellow healthcare professionals who work within the Practice to manage your healthcare and well-being.
Our medical receptionists are Carol, Shan, Susie, Lisa, Jayne, Eva, Brenda, Angie, Tina & Seprina.
